Key Consultants
Dr. Paul W. Doerrer — Dr. Doerrer brings superior expertise to AMG through a diverse 42-year career in
education, which has included all facets of school district operations including
administration, finances and academics. As a former school district superintendent, Paul’s
familiarity with issues and challenges facing school districts, especially in the areas of
academic achievement, strategic planning, financial management and administrative
matters, makes him a key AMG team member.
Paul holds doctorate and master’s degrees from Saint Louis University, and a bachelor’s
degree from Concordia Teachers College. As an adjunct professor at Saint Louis
University, Paul teaches graduate courses on education administration. He is a member of
the American Association of School Administrators, the American Educational Research
Association, the Association for Supervision and Curriculum Development, the Excellence
in Missouri Foundation/Missouri Quality Award Program and Phi Delta Kappa. Paul’s
accolades include being the recipient of the 2009 Outstanding Emeritus Educator Award
and the 2005 Pearce Award for outstanding superintendent from the Missouri Association
of School Administrators (MASA), the 2009 Award of Distinction from Cooperating School
Districts of Greater Saint Louis, and the 2005 Outstanding Communicator Award by the
National School Public Relations Association
Dr. Brent Underwood — Dr. Underwood recently joined AMG with three decades of experience and expertise as a leader in
public education, including superintendent searches for metropolitan and rural school
districts in Missouri.
Brent’s lifelong career as an educator reflects a consistent pattern of accomplishments as a
teacher, coach, principal, central office administrator and superintendent. Since 1985,
Brent has held numerous administrative positions in schools throughout the St. Louis
metropolitan area, with his most recent post as superintendent in the Webster Groves
Public Schools, one of the nation’s most progressive and recognized school systems
according to U.S. News and World Report and Time magazines. His recognitions and
honors include being chosen by his fellow Missouri superintendents as a 2009 Pearce
Award nominee for outstanding superintendency. He currently is an adjunct professor in
Saint Louis University’s Department of Educational Leadership/Higher Education.
Brent holds a doctorate in education from Saint Louis University, a master’s degree from
Northwest Missouri State University and a bachelor’s degree from William Jewell College.
He is chairman of the Career and Technical Educational Advisory Board, and a member of
the American Association of School Administrators, Missouri Association of School
Administrators, the Midwest Suburban Superintendents, Suburban Schools
Superintendents and a host of other professional associations.
Mr. Dan Ehlenbeck — Mr. Ehlenbeck brings to the AMG Team a 30-year career with a heavy emphasis as a top
administrator in career and technical education. As an assistant superintendent for
technical education in a district with more than 25,000 students, Dan was responsible for
all district support services and the hiring and supervision of senior-level staff including
principals of three technical high schools, director of curriculum, director of pupil services
and director of maintenance. His experience in school operations also includes
assignments as director of pupil services, director of vocational education, assistant
principal of a technical high school, athletic director, physical education teacher and coach.
Since retiring, Dan has continued his commitment to public education by sharing his
expertise as a key consultant for metropolitan districts by screening and recruiting seniorlevel
candidates for positions that include director of human resources, principals, director
of facilities, custodial supervisors and directors of transportation. Dan holds a bachelor’s
degree from William Jewell College and a master’s degree in education administration
from University of Missouri at St. Louis. He is certified as a vocational/technical education
director, secondary education principal and K-12 physical education and health.
Mr. Paul Fedchak — Mr. Fedchak has extensive experience in directing and managing the business operations of school districts. As a chief financial officer, his responsibilities included preparing and administering annual budgets of more than $50 million, financial projections, cash management, and directing business office operations that included payroll, accounting, benefits administration, workers compensation, property and casualty insurance and purchasing. He also has directed maintenance operations and the facilities planning department, and food services.
Paul’s facilities experience includes the development of facility master plans, as well assisting in planning the passage of bond referenda and the sale of bonds as the means to finance improvements.
Paul holds a master’s degree in business administration from Maryville University and a bachelor’s degree from the University of Missouri at St. Louis. He is the former chief financial officer of the Clayton School District in St. Louis County, Missouri.
Ms. Carole Fields – Ms. Fields brings to the AMG team a keen ability to quickly analyze complex issues
and recommend insightful solutions, especially when it comes to recruiting highly
qualified educators to meet the explicit and implicit needs of public school districts. With
more than three decades of experience as an educator in positions ranging from teacher to
assistant superintendent for personnel, Carole is well-versed in the challenges of recruiting
candidates through progressive screening and interviewing processes. After officially
retiring, she shared her personnel skills as the lead consultant in a successfully managed
staff reorganization for a school district during a state takeover. Carole’s career also includes assignments as an assistant principal
at a high school and a director of alternative education. She earned a bachelor’s degree in
secondary education and a master’s degree in educational administration from University
of Missouri at St. Louis and is currently working on her specialist degree.
Mr. James Fischer – Mr. Fischer’s
diverse background in public education ranges from handling
complex school district administration issues to dealing with
human resources matters. Jim has implemented a model for guidance
counselors, overseen professional development programs –
all within a technical education setting – and is knowledgeable
of school management information systems. Jim has been a successful
administrator, principal, assistant principal, lead counselor
and teacher. He is certified in secondary administration, counseling
and social studies.
Ms. Shirley Francis — Ms. Francis has
a wide variety of experience working in the pupil transportation
field—from school bus driver to Director of Transportation.
She also has had the unique opportunity of working to provide
transportation primarily for students with special needs. Shirley
is a member of the National Association for Pupil Transportation
(NAPT), and serves on the NAPT Training Program Committee. She
is a Missouri state certified school bus driver trainer. Shirley
has been recognized as the Missouri Association for Pupil Transportation
Administrator of the Year and in 2003 as that organization’s
Distinguished Service Award Winner.
Ms. Linda Hayes Holliday – Ms. Holliday brings 12 years of progressive human resource management and
administrative experience to the AMG team. Her proven track record of successful
placements, matching the needs of school districts with highly qualified candidates, brings
a high level of expertise to the team. Linda’s professional experience includes tenures as an
assistant superintendent for human resources, a key consultant for human resources and
director of special education. She earned her bachelor’s degree in elementary education
from the College for Women in Oxford, Ohio, and a master’s degree in special education
from the University of Michigan. Linda is a member of the American Association of School
Personnel Administrators, Missouri Association of School Administrators and the School
Human Resources and Career Services Administrators.
Ms. Ann Kallemeier – Ms. Kallemeier brings to the Project Team a wealth of knowledge in recruiting educational
professionals. With more than 15 years of experience in both school district administration
and human resources, Ann’s expertise in matching candidates to roles helped a St. Louis
County school district twice earn “Best Places to Work” awards from the St. Louis Business
Journal. Ann’s familiarity with the latest trends in recruitment and hiring practices
combined with her leadership and organizational skills make her a high-performing
consultant for clients. Her 26-year career in education includes serving as an assistant
superintendent and director of human resources, a middle school assistant principal and
instructional manager, and a vocational school job placement coordinator, instructional
manager and math teacher. Since officially retiring, Ann has worked as a consultant to
school districts for 14 years in her areas of expertise. Ann earned a bachelor’s degree in
mathematics from Lindenwood University and a master’s degree in education from
University of Missouri at Columbia.
Mr. Jeff Konkel – Mr. Konkel is a writer and public relations practitioner with 15 years of experience in the field. Throughout his career, Jeff has provided communications expertise to a broad array of organizations and institutions in the United States and abroad. Jeff began his career as a print reporter and editor with the Suburban Journals of St. Louis County before moving into the public relations sector. Since making that transition, he has worked for such organizations as Fleishman-Hillard, Saint Louis University, Special School District of St. Louis County and Morgan & Banks, Ltd. Jeff is a graduate of Saint Louis University.
Mr. William Korte – Mr. Korte With more than four decades of experience in education, Bill Korte brings a wide range of
expertise to the AMG team in areas including human resources management, district
administration and pupil personnel services. After finishing a career that included being a
senior administrator in special education and a high school principal, Bill has been a key
consultant for school districts for his expertise in staff recruitment and facilities
management. He also is an adjunct professor in education administration, business
administration and school facilities at Lindenwood University. Bill has a master’s degree in
education from Southern Illinois University at Edwardsville and a bachelor’s degree in
education from Southern Illinois University at Carbondale.
Ms. Michelle Mueller — Ms. Mueller brings to the AMG team a strong background in school district public
relations/communications and in print journalism. An accomplished writer, editor,
researcher and communicator, Michelle’s school district publications, e-newsletters and
promotional materials have earned state honors. Her strategic, detailed and progressive
approach to communications ensures that key messages reach all stakeholder groups
appropriately, accurately and efficiently. Over the last 23 years, Michelle has dedicated her
career to education, working as both a communications/public relations specialist and
consultant in metropolitan school districts and as an education reporter for a major
market daily newspaper. Michelle’s experience with multi-media communications, crisis
management, media training and ballot issue campaigns also make her a key consultant
for Access Management Group. Michelle has earned a bachelor’s degree in journalism
from Northwestern University in Illinois. She is member of the National School Public
Relations Association (NSPRA) and Missouri School Public Relations Association
(MOSPRA).
Ms. Jessica Pupillo — Ms. Pupillo is an award-winning writer, editor and communications professional. Her experience includes creating and launching e-newsletters and establishing a process for monitoring and measuring media coverage, as well as playing an integral role in successful school district tax campaigns. She also has expertise in creating crisis/emergency communications plans and in researching and writing news articles. Jessica holds a bachelor’s degree in Journalism from the University of Missouri – Columbia with an academic emphasis in magazine journalism, and is knowledgeable in the use of QuarkXpress, InDesign, PageMaker, Publisher, Photoshop and Microsoft Office software programs.
